HP LIFE - Start-Up Lab
Finally some help with starting your business. Just in time, just right, on your terms, HP Life is a unique program that uses real life examples of business problems, and shows how using technology can help solve those problems, and in turn help small businesses grow and succeed. This program features hands-on use of a computer station, provided through a donation by Hewlett-Packard Corporation, and focuses on the business problem rather than the software. Do you have a business concept that you are ready to turn into a reality? Attend the new Small Business Development Center Start Up Lab. We provide the tools to research and address the challenges that start ups
Consultant: Kristin Slice

TIME:  4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
HP LIFE Small Business Academy-Financial Plan
These classes are designed to be taken as a series, however all courses are valuable individually as well. Students who attend 5 or more HP Life classes receive certificates as HP Life Graduates. This topic introduces students to the initial steps necessary for writing up the Financial section of a Business Plan. Students are introduced to the importance of financial planning by understanding the difference between liquidity and profitability. They are then exposed to different financial documents that they can use to assess both the liquidity and the profitability of their business. Among these, students have the opportunity to look at the Income statement in more depth. They learn about the calculations implied in the different sections of an Income statement, and then practice building one on the basis of an existing template.
Speakers: Kristin Slice, Nancy Sanders and Mark Engle
