Vendors and entertainers needed for Chandler Indian Art Market

Chandler, AZ– Vendors and entertainers are being sought for Chandler’s 3rd Annual Indian Art Market to be held on the tree-shaded grounds of A.J. Chandler Park in downtown Chandler the weekend of October 7-9.

“We are looking for the best Native American entertainment, demonstrators and food, jewelry and craft vendors for this event,” said Niki Tapia, an assistant with the City’s Diversity Office. “And new this year, artists confirmed to participate in the market with have their artwork showcased on the City’s Indian Art Market web site.”

Interested persons are encouraged to submit their applications early by filling out the online form at www.chandleraz.gov/indianaz or contacting Niki Tapia at 480-782-2214 or niki.tapia@chandleraz.gov. Applications received by August 1 will receive $50 off the booth rental fee and have their web site linked to the City’s site.

Also being sought are local bands and Indian dance groups available to perform one or more days. Performers should call 480-782-2214 for more information.

The Indian Art Market will run from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, and from noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 9. It will feature both traditional and contemporary works of art, including jewelry, ceramics, hand-woven blankets, clothing, sculptures, Katsina carvings, photography, paintings, native food and tribal arts & crafts.

The event is being held in conjunction with Native American Recognition Days and the 50th Anniversary of the Miss Indian Arizona Scholarship Program to be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, October 8 at the Chandler Center for the Arts, 250 N Arizona Avenue.
