Great Western Bank Increases Corporate Banking Presence in Arizona

PHOENIX (Aug. 17, 2011)—South Dakota-based Great Western Bank recently expanded its corporate banking presence in Arizona with the addition of three experienced executives. Great Western Bank has 11 locations across the state, in addition to more than 200 free ATMs.

Lyle Frederickson was hired as vice president of corporate banking. With more than 30 years of commercial lending experience in several rural Arizona communities, as well as in the Phoenix and Tucson markets, he has established longstanding banking relationships with the region’s Tribal communities.

Todd Whisler has also been added as vice president of corporate banking.  Whisler has more than 10 years of experience in the financial industry, specializing in contractors, Rural Development and Tribal banking. He previously worked at Arizona Business Bank in Phoenix and both Union Bank and Trust and KeyBank in Denver.

Kathie Petty has been hired as corporate support officer for Great Western Bank. She has nearly 40 years of experience in the financial industry, with more than 30 years working alongside Frederickson in various aspects of commercial credit, managing banking relationships, and packaging and administering SBA and USDA loans.

Frederickson, Whisler and Petty join Arizona banking veterans Anita Turk, vice president, and Jeff Wentzel, market president, at the Arizona corporate office in Chandler.

  1. With strategic acquisitions and organic growth, they've added new locations, ATMs and hundreds of employees. They are still lending and giving back to its communities. The relationship banking concept must be used properly here and the reason for its growth.
